It's time for a blog

I have thought about creating a blog for a while - it's been on my Outlook calendar for about 9 months and keeps 'dinging' me - and I'm happy to finally be able to sit down and give it a little attention (albeit it's after midnight - but hey, when opportunity knocks! I actually have a few moments of downtime).

I have a few reasons for wanting to create this blog:

1. Book #1 - My husband keeps telling me that I need to document the experiences that people have in and with my store. I have long thought about writing a book about customer service - or, more appropriately 'customer experience'. It's something that I have always excelled at. I learned about the term "underpromise and overdeliver" at a very young age by my first 'real world' manager and have never forgotten it. Every single day I strive to not only satisfy my customers but to make them so pleased with their experience with me and my store that they want to shout it from the rooftops and tell every person they know. Hey, that's how I roll!

2. Book #2 - There is a second book I have been thinking about for years - it will be called (something like) "365 Ways to Create Good Karma." I would like to task myself with doing something each and every day, for 365 days, that will make someone's life a little happier, a little brighter - at least I hope to bring a slight smile. At various times throughout the last few years I have actually started lists beginning on Day 1 ... but, unfortunately the farthest I've gotten is Day 17 before I was too distracted and lost a day .. and then a few days ... and then I gave up. It's kind of like dieting, don't you think? Well, I'm hoping by putting this blog out there it will make me accountable to complete the list. The 365 days may end up spanning more than a year - but I'm going to give myself that luxury.

3. Marketing www.ShopLaMuse.com - A blog is a good thing for marketing. La Muse just turned two and has all of the trials and tribulations of a two year old. I am so incredibly blessed that even in this crappy economy the store is gaining ground. And one day I hope that its debt will lose some ground!! Woo Hoo!

4. To share - I guess that's what this is all about. I mean, isn't a blog really just an online diary? I've started lots of personal journals in my life - I don't think I've ever used up all the pages in any of them. Whew, at least there are no page numbers here!

Thank you so very much for supporting La Muse, American Artisans & Small Businesses. You make a difference.
